“Quick, Transparent & Quality Services.”
The journey of an entrepreneur is rarely straightforward, and Ashish
Pagariya’s story is a testament to that. In the early 2000s, Ashish had
mapped out a future that seemed promising, he planned to pursue an
MBA in Australia, envisioning a life filled with academic success and
international opportunities. However, life has a way of reshuffling plans,
often in unexpected ways.
Around 2004, his family suffered a severe financial setback. At just
21 or 22, Ashish found himself at a crossroads; he could either chase his
dreams abroad or step up and take responsibility for his family. It was a
defining moment. Without hesitation, he chose to stay, trading his
personal aspirations for something greater, ensuring the survival and
eventual growth of his family.
While many would have seen this as a sacrifice, Ashish turned it into an
opportunity. With a determination that would soon define his
entrepreneurial journey, he entered the world of corrugated packaging,
specifically manufacturing boxes, and became the founder of
Reliable Packaging Industries. His early clientele came mainly from the food
industry, where demand was steady, but profit margins were razor thin. It
didn’t take long for Ashish to realize that he needed a more specialized
market—one that could provide stability and scalability
The automobile industry turned out to be the perfect niche. More
specifically, Ashish recognized immense potential in the after-sales
service segment. While the spotlight in the automotive sector typically
shines on flashy new cars and cutting-edge technology, the behind-the
scenes operations like packaging for spare parts are equally critical. These
boxes ensure safe transport of replacement components, allowing
commercial vehicles such as trucks and tempos to resume operations
after breakdowns or accidents.
It was a simple but brilliant realization: logistics and packaging played an
indispensable role in the efficiency of the auto industry, and yet, few
focused on optimizing it. Ashish saw an opportunity to improve
packaging quality, reduce damage rates, and streamline supply chain
efficiency, all while carving out a sustainable business.
With time, his business expanded beyond Pune, reaching multiple
locations across India. His main manufacturing unit is based in Chakan,
Pune—an area widely recognized as the automobile hub of Maharashtra.
Over the years, operations spread further, with units in Alwar (Rajasthan),
Indore (Madhya Pradesh), and Pantnagar (Uttarakhand).
In entrepreneurship, persistence often separates success from failure,
and Ashish understood this well. Securing high-profile clients wasn’t
easy; many companies were reluctant to move away from their existing
packaging vendors. Instead of aggressively pushing his products, Ashish
took a different approach: he observed, adapted, and provided value in
ways his competitors hadn’t.
He spent considerable time
studying inefficiencies in
warehouses, analyzing storage
limitations, and understanding
why packaging often led to
damaged components. Armed
with these insights, he
introduced 2D and 3D box
visualization techniques
allowing companies to see
firsthand how better packaging
can maximize space and
minimize product loss. "We
needed to show them the
difference, not just tell them" he
recalls.
One of the biggest turning points came with a top-tier automobile
manufacturer. For nearly a year and a half, Ashish worked relentlessly
on sampling and product trials, refusing to give up despite repeated
delays and roadblocks. The breakthrough came when he finally received
the purchase order—a defining moment that validated his patience,
perseverance, and unwavering commitment to his vision.
Today, his company supplies some of the most respected names in the
automotive industry. While not operating under a conventional B2B
model, he works directly with Original Equipment (OE) manufacturers
within the automobile spare parts ecosystem.
Like many businesses, Ashish’s company faced immense challenges
during the COVID-19 pandemic. With industries shutting down and
transportation coming to a halt, operations were nearly at a standstill.
The only orders that provided some reliefs were for ambulance
components from a key automotive OEM, but they weren’t enough to
sustain the business in the long run.
Rather than succumbing to uncertainty, Ashish used the time strategically.
He re-evaluated internal processes, streamlined workflows, and focused
on building a more robust operational model for the post-pandemic
world. A significant transformation came with the introduction of
automation.
Previously, the process of manufacturing boxes was largely manual;
cutting, folding, and finishing required extensive human effort, making
production susceptible to delays. Automation changed everything. With
advanced machinery in place, production became faster, more consistent,
and less dependent on unpredictable labor availability. Conveyor systems,
automated dimension settings, and optimized assembly lines allowed his
business to scale efficiently while maintaining high quality.
For Ashish, success isn’t a one-time event—it’s a continuous process
driven by customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and adaptability.
He ensures that his company follows a “Just in time” approach to stock
management, minimizing excess inventory while maintaining timely
deliveries.
“When your box arrives torn from Amazon, you reject it, right? My customers
expect the same level of quality, and I respect that.” he often says. Looking
ahead, Ashish has ambitious goals. He aims to expand operations into
South India and reach a revenue milestone of ₹100 crores in the coming
years. While the path is challenging, he’s confident that a combination of
quality, innovation, and strategic expansion will drive growth.
One key lesson Ashish emphasizes is the importance of staying calm and
data-driven when facing complaints and setbacks. “Some complaints are
valid, some strategic, and some are just misunderstandings. You need to stay
professional, give them facts, and handle things with patience.” he explains.
For those looking to enter the business world, Ashish offers practical
advice: Don't rush. “Before jumping in, do your market research. Understand
your customers, understand the problem. Start small, learn fast, and build
something sustainable.”
He sees entrepreneurship not as a gamble but as a game of constant
learning and adaptation. “Every day teaches something new. The world is
changing. Automation is rising. You must rise with it or get left behind.”
Ashish Pagariya’s entrepreneurial journey isn’t just about financial
success, it's about resilience, adaptability, and vision. From a young man
forced to navigate unexpected hardships to a business leader shaping
India’s packaging solutions for the automobile industry, his story is an
inspiration for anyone daring to dream and willing to work relentlessly to
achieve it.
His journey reminds us that challenges are inevitable, but how we
respond to them defines the legacy we build. Success isn’t about having a
perfect plan, it's about embracing uncertainty, learning from failures, and
continuously evolving with the changing world.
For Ashish, entrepreneurship is more than just running a business; it's
about creating impact, solving problems, and laying a foundation for
lasting success.
